After Day 2 of the GLIAC Championship in Holland, Michigan, both the men's and women's swim and dive teams have maintained their lead. The men's team scored 391.5 points, ahead of Wayne State with 332 points and NMU with 320.5 points. The women's team leads with a score of 546, followed by NMU at 340 and Wayne State at 319.
Lucy Hedley set multiple records in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:46.71, breaking the GLIAC overall, meet record, pool record, and school record. This marks her second victory as a GLIAC Champion in this event.
Alysa Wager earned silver for the Lakers with a time of 55.14. Sara Alvarez secured gold in the 400 IM with a time of 4:18.63.
The GVSU women's 400 medley relay team, consisting of Hedley, Proietti, Wager, and Alvarez, set new meet and school records with a time of 3:41.49 to win gold.
Esteban Nunez Del Prado achieved a new freshman record in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 46.78 to win gold for the Lakers.
Matt Bosch completed the 200 free in 1:33.64, setting new GLIAC overall, meet record, school record, and pool records while becoming back-to-back champion in this event.
Matthew Blommel placed second in the three-meter dive with a score of 470.80 and is now also a back-to-back champion.
The men's relay team composed of Aaron Dies, Andrew Goh, Esteban Nunez Del Prado, and Matt Bosch broke several records in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:09.05 to secure gold for the Lakers.
