Swim and dive team leads after Day Three at GLIAC Championship

With an impressive showing on the third day of competition, the swim and dive team has maintained its lead in the 2025 GLIAC Championship. The men's team leads with 572 points, while Wayne State follows closely with 495 points. On the women's side, the team holds a commanding position with 851.5 points, ahead of Northern Michigan University, which has 558.5 points.

Lucy Hedley set a new GLIAC meet record by winning first place in the 500 free with a time of 4:47.39. Vittoria Proietti secured silver and broke a school record in the 100 back with a time of 55.06. Sara Alvarez claimed gold for the Lakers in the 100 breast at 1:02.40.

In other events, Kelly Shortall earned silver for the Lakers in the 200 fly with a time of 2:02.73, while Alysa Wager took bronze at 2:03.78. Maddie Kooistra scored gold for the Lakers in diving with 447.05 points, and Olivia Kutsche took silver with a score of 431.15.

The women's relay team consisting of Angelica Angilletta, Linda Frick, Vittoria Proietti, and Katie O'Connell won gold in the 800 relay with a time of 7:26.62.

On the men's side, Raul Briceno achieved silver in the men's 500 free at 4:27.40, and Aaron Dies secured bronze in the men's 100 back with a time of 48.03.

Andrew Goh made notable achievements by setting new school and pool records to win first place in the men's 100 breast at a time of 52.94. Jon Kantzenbach earned bronze for his performance in the men's 200 fly at a time of 1:47.70.

The men's relay team—Carsyn Christoffel, Raul Briceno, Matt Bosch, and Austin Millard—claimed gold in their event with a finishing time of 6:28.44.

The final day of competition is approaching with preliminaries beginning at ten o'clock in the morning.
