The Grand Valley State softball team concluded their participation in the Lewis Dome Tournament with two losses, bringing their season record to 2-6. On February 22, the Lakers faced defeats against Winona State and Lewis.

In the first game against Winona State, GVSU fell short with a score of 4-3. Winona State capitalized on an early error by the Lakers to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning. They extended their advantage with two more runs in the third inning. The Lakers responded in the bottom of the third when Faith Edwards hit a sacrifice fly, allowing Allyson Theunick to score.

Winona State added another run with a solo home run in the fourth inning. GVSU attempted a comeback in the seventh inning, scoring twice through an RBI double by Elizabeth Wesoloski and a single from MaryJane Goodman. However, they could not close the gap completely.

Faith Edwards contributed with one hit and an RBI, while Grace Usher and MaryJane Goodman each added a hit. Kylie Swierkos started as pitcher but took the loss after allowing three runs over three innings. Christine Duch pitched four innings in relief, conceding one run and striking out two batters.

In their second game against Lewis, GVSU lost 4-1. Lewis scored early with an RBI single in the first inning and doubled their lead in the third with another RBI single. Two additional runs came off a Laker error in the fifth inning. The Lakers managed to score once when Morgan Spicer hit a double that brought Eliana Eiland home.

Nevaeh Ingram pitched all six innings for GVSU, striking out four batters but taking her second loss of the season (1-2). Morgan Spicer recorded both a double and an RBI, while Eliana Eiland also had a double and scored.

Looking ahead, GVSU will participate in Florida's Spring Games next weekend where they are scheduled to play 12 games starting March 1st in Clermont.
