The Grand Valley State women's tennis team secured a 5-2 victory over Charleston on Friday afternoon in Lakeland, Florida. This win brings the Lakers' season record to 5-1.
The Lakers captured the doubles point with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Rachel Sam and Estefania Hernandez achieved a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles, while Kalomoira Ralli and Ipek Sakiroglu recorded a 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Neus Ramos and Vale Mozas faced a challenging match, resulting in a 1-6 loss at the top doubles position.
In singles play, Anna Soteras delivered a commanding performance with a straight-set victory of 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Estefania Hernandez secured a three-set win of 6-0, 3-6, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Ipek Sakiroglu won her match with scores of 6-3, 6-3 in straight sets at No. 5 singles, while Kalomoira Ralli triumphed in three sets with scores of 6-3, 4-6, and an impressive final set tiebreaker score of 10-3 at No. 6 singles.
Looking ahead, the Lakers are scheduled to face Rollins on Monday, March 3rd in Winter Park, Florida with the first serve set for early afternoon.
