The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's lacrosse team is set to play against Quincy this Sunday. The game marks the first encounter between the Lakers and the Hawks in program history.

In their season opener, GVSU secured a 13-9 victory over Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). The match saw Ashleigh Rothe leading with six goals, earning her the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Ella Boose contributed two goals, while five other Lakers scored once each. Goalkeepers Kaylyn Cater and Sarah Krause shared time in goal, each making six saves. Additionally, six Lakers recorded two or more groundballs and the team caused nine turnovers.

Quincy has started their season with a record of 2-1, having defeated Davenport and Thomas More but lost to Ashland. They have scored 47 goals while conceding 41. Amelia Ham leads Quincy with 24 points, comprising 14 goals and 10 assists. Anni Moran has scored a team-high of 17 goals. In goal, Madison Whiting Wagner has made 33 saves with a .446 save percentage. The Hawk defense has caused 21 turnovers and collected 57 groundballs.
