Grand Valley State softball team heads to Florida for Spring Games

The Grand Valley State softball team is set to participate in the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida, starting March 1. The Lakers will play a total of 12 games over seven days at NTC Legends Way.

The team's schedule begins with two games on Saturday against Franklin Pierce and Western Oregon. The following day, they face Wilmington (Del.) and Concordia – St. Paul. Additional matchups include Ashland and Southern New Hampshire on Monday, Edinboro and West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, Tiffin and St. Cloud State on Thursday, and Ohio Dominican and Minnesota State on Friday.

Currently holding a 2-6 record for the season, the Lakers recently competed at the Lewis Dome Tournament in Rosemont, Illinois, where they secured victories against Minnesota State Moorhead and Minnesota Duluth.

Senior infielder Morgan Spicer leads the team with a .318 batting average, having accumulated seven hits including two triples and two doubles. Spicer also shares the team lead with three runs scored alongside MaryJane Goodman and Eliana Eiland. Goodman has six hits to her name while Eiland has contributed five hits.

On the pitching side, Nevaeh Ingram stands out with a 2.10 ERA across 20 innings pitched, striking out 15 batters. Ingram's performance includes a complete game shutout against Minnesota State with eight strikeouts. Karli Dorr also achieved her first career complete game shutout against Minnesota State Moorhead with ten strikeouts.
