The GVSU men's golf team is preparing to start their spring season at the Lander Bearcat Classic in Greenwood, South Carolina. The event will take place over two days, with 36 holes scheduled for Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday.

Competing for the fifth-ranked Lakers are Drew Coble, Manuel Cue Vargas, Bryce Wheeler, Charlie Cooley, and Ryan Gallagher. They will begin play on Monday morning at 8:00 AM alongside teams from Lander, Wingate, and USC Aiken.

Last year, the Lakers secured victory at this event by moving up from third place after the first day. They finished with a score of -36 after shooting a final round of 271 (-17), following initial rounds of 283 (-2) and 274 (-13). Coble claimed the individual title with a score of -13. Cooley tied for 12th at seven under par, while Cue ended in a tie for 22nd at -5.

During the fall season, GVSU won three out of five events they participated in. These victories included the Folds of Honor Challenge, the Doc Spragg Invitational, and the Nemacolin Intercollegiate. Coble achieved four top-five finishes, including a win at the Doc Spragg Invitational. Cue secured a win at Nemacolin among his three top-10 finishes in the fall. Wheeler also recorded three top-10 finishes, while Cooley had four.
