The GVSU women's lacrosse team is continuing their spring break road trip in Colorado, where they will face two opponents. The Lakers are set to play against Colorado Mesa on Thursday and will conclude their trip with a match against Regis on Sunday afternoon.

The Lakers, currently ranked 13th, began their season with a 16-9 victory over Quincy. Key performances included hat tricks from Ashleigh Rothe, Gracie Bancroft, and Ella Boose. Kaylyn Cater was notable in goal, earning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for her performance that included three saves and causing two turnovers.

Last year, GVSU defeated Colorado Mesa in a low-scoring game held at a neutral site in St. Louis. In that encounter, Cater excelled by allowing only three goals while making seven saves. Rothe also contributed significantly with a hat trick.

Colorado Mesa is currently navigating a challenging stretch against ranked teams and holds a record of 1-3 this season. Their single victory came against Missouri Western State. Key players include Courtney Havel and Justine Anderson, who both lead the team with 15 points each. Heather Hawkins has stepped into the role of starting goalkeeper for the Mavericks.

On Sunday, GVSU will face Regis, which is ranked tenth but has started the season with an 0-3 record after facing top-ranked teams like UIndy, Maryville, and Pace. Despite these losses, goalkeeper Brigit Goetsch has maintained strong statistics with a .514 save percentage. Shea Murphy leads Regis in scoring while contributing significantly to draw controls alongside Megan Bunker.
