The Grand Valley State softball team secured victories against Edinboro and West Virginia Wesleyan during their games in Clermont, Florida. These wins improved the Lakers' season record to 8-8.

In the first game against Edinboro, GVSU claimed a narrow 2-1 victory. The Lakers took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning with Faith Edwards reaching base on a walk and subsequently scoring thanks to Elizabeth Wesoloski's single. Edinboro managed to tie the game in the third inning, but GVSU quickly responded with Grace Usher driving Morgan Spicer home for what became the game-winning RBI. Nevaeh Ingram played a crucial role as she pitched all seven innings, allowing only one run off three hits while striking out three batters.

The second match against West Virginia Wesleyan ended with a 10-6 win for GVSU. The Lakers established an early advantage with two runs in the first inning and extended their lead to 6-0 by scoring four more runs in the second inning. Despite a strong comeback from West Virginia Wesleyan that tied the game at six runs apiece in the third inning, GVSU regained control by adding two runs each in both the fourth and fifth innings.

Karli Dorr contributed significantly both on offense and defense by pitching 6.2 innings without conceding any runs while also recording seven strikeouts. Faith Edwards had an impressive performance going 3-for-4 at bat with a double, scoring three times, and achieving one RBI.

GVSU will continue their schedule in Florida with games against Tiffin and St. Cloud State scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at Legends Way in Clermont.
