The Grand Valley State softball team experienced two defeats on Thursday afternoon, facing Tiffin and St. Cloud State in Clermont, Florida. The losses brought the Lakers' season record to 8-10.

In the first game against Tiffin, GVSU initially took a lead by scoring three runs in the first inning. Elizabeth Wesoloski's double allowed Eliana Eiland and Faith Edwards to score, putting the Lakers ahead 2-0. Grace Usher later contributed with a sacrifice fly, bringing Wesoloski home for a third run.

However, Tiffin responded quickly with two runs in the second inning through a two-run homer, narrowing GVSU's lead to 3-2. The Dragons then gained momentum, scoring additional runs across subsequent innings—two in the third, three in the fourth from a solo homer and a two-RBI double, and one more in the fifth from another solo home run—securing an 8-3 victory over GVSU.

Despite this setback, GVSU managed to briefly gain control by scoring twice in the third inning thanks to Morgan Spicer's triple which scored Carsyn Segorski followed by Eiland’s sacrifice fly allowing Spicer to score.
