The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's lacrosse team faced a challenging match against Regis, concluding their spring break trip in Denver. The Lakers, ranked thirteenth, competed against the tenth-ranked Regis team but ultimately fell short with a 12-5 loss. This result brings GVSU's season record to 3-1.

In the first quarter, the Laker defense performed strongly, preventing any goals from Regis. Kaylyn Cater contributed significantly with five saves during this period, and the team forced four turnovers from the Rangers. Jillian Bingman scored the only goal of the quarter, giving GVSU a 1-0 lead heading into the second quarter.

Zoe Ziegler extended GVSU's lead to 2-0 early in the second quarter with a free position attempt goal. Although Regis managed to score once, Ziegler responded with another goal for GVSU. However, Regis finished the half with a 3-0 scoring run, taking a 4-3 lead at halftime.

Regis continued their momentum into the second half with another 3-0 run, increasing their advantage to 7-3. Kendra Swope added another goal for GVSU before entering the fourth quarter.

Ziegler achieved her third goal at the start of the fourth quarter, reducing GVSU's deficit to two goals. Despite this effort, Regis scored five consecutive goals to secure their victory.

Leading GVSU's offense was Zoe Ziegler with three goals while Jillian Bingman and Kendra Swope each added one goal. Ainsley Shilling, Tatumn Nyen, and Lauren Volk each caused two turnovers defensively. Kaylyn Cater recorded seven saves in the first half and Sarah Krause matched that number in the second half.

Looking ahead, GVSU will play next weekend in Ohio against Walsh on Friday and Ashland on Saturday.
