GVSU women's golf wins SMSU Spring Invitational

The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's golf team commenced their spring season with a strong performance, securing victory at the SMSU Spring Invitational in Litchfield Park, Arizona. The Lakers finished 21 strokes ahead of their closest competitors, placing five golfers in the top ten, including individual winner Olivia Stoll.

In the final round, GVSU carded a score of 286 (-2), which was the lowest round of the tournament, concluding with an overall score of one over par. Academy of Art secured second place with +22, followed by Western New Mexico at +30. Montana State-Billings and Saint Martin's finished fourth and fifth with scores of +37 and +38 respectively.

Olivia Stoll led her team to victory by shooting a final round of 71 (-1), finishing three under par for the tournament. She remarked her win with three birdies in her final round. Evelyn Park earned runner-up honors by completing her rounds at even par, also scoring a final round of 71 (-1) and making three birdies.

Rachael Krieger tied for fourth place at two over par after recording a round of 73 (+1), achieving three birdies and an eagle. Lea Stotz and Megan Miron both ended in seventh place at four over par; Stotz shot a 73 (+1) with three birdies while Miron achieved four birdies in her impressive round of 69 (-3).

Julia Sanchez and Charlotte Goersch narrowly missed out on the top ten positions, tying for eleventh place at five over par. Sanchez recorded two birdies during her round of 76 (+4), whereas Goersch carded a score of 74 (+2) with two birdies as well. Paula Badino finished one stroke behind them in thirteenth place at six over par after scoring a final round of 77 (+5) with three birdies.

Lorena Saquicoray completed her participation tied for fifty-second position after shooting an 82 (+10).

Looking forward, GVSU will take part in the Lynn Invitational held in Florida from March 31st to April 1st.
