The GVSU women's lacrosse team is set to play their first home games of the season this weekend in Allendale, facing off against Maryville and Indianapolis.

The Lakers have started the season strong with a 5-1 record, all achieved on the road. Last weekend, they secured victories over Walsh and Ashland. Currently ranked 16th in the IWLCA poll, GVSU stands as the third-highest ranked team in their region. Notable performances include Elora Ferrie being named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for her defensive contributions and Jillian Bingman leading the offense with eight points from five goals and three assists.

Maryville arrives in Allendale on a six-game winning streak after an initial loss to #1 Tampa. They are now ranked fifth nationally, having outscored opponents 131-49. Marissa Zeno leads Maryville's scoring efforts with 25 goals and 14 assists. Goalkeeper Gianna Guzek has maintained a .505 save percentage while facing an average of 18 shots per game.

Indianapolis, despite a balanced 4-4 record, holds ninth place in the IWLCA rankings. Their losses have come against highly-ranked teams while they have also defeated two ranked teams themselves. Olivia Bladon leads UIndy's scoring with 23 goals, followed by Sage Da Silva's contribution of 15 goals. Ava Graham serves as their primary goalkeeper with a .481 save percentage from her total saves this season.
