The Grand Valley State softball team faced a setback on Saturday with losses in both games of their doubleheader against Parkside. The games, held in Kenosha, Wisconsin, saw the Lakers' season record fall to 11-15.

In the first game, Parkside secured an early lead with a solo home run in the first inning. Grand Valley State responded in the second inning when Morgan Spicer hit an RBI double to center field, allowing Nevaeh Ingram to score and tie the game. However, Parkside regained control with two back-to-back home runs in the third inning and extended their lead further with another two-run homer in the fifth.

Despite efforts from GVSU players like Karli Dorr and Madelynn Pope, who each contributed to narrowing the deficit with runs batted in during the sixth inning, Parkside held on for a 5-3 victory. Notable performances included Grace Usher going 2-2 with a double and Morgan Spicer adding another hit and scoring once.

The second game saw Parkside take command again with a three-run homer early on. They capitalized on GVSU errors and added further runs through subsequent innings. The Lakers managed to get on the scoreboard thanks to Carsyn Segorski's solo home run and additional contributions from Faith Edwards and Karli Dorr.

Ultimately, Parkside triumphed again with a final score of 9-3. Faith Edwards had notable stats by going 2-4 at bat with a double and one run scored.

Looking ahead, Grand Valley State will begin their home schedule next Wednesday against Purdue Northwest. The doubleheader is set for March 26 at 3:00 PM and will be available for live streaming via FloSports.
