Grand Valley State women's tennis defeats Purdue Northwest in GLIAC play

The Grand Valley State women's tennis team secured a 5-2 victory over Purdue Northwest on Saturday, March 22, in Allendale. This win marks the Lakers' second consecutive victory in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), bringing their season record to 8-3 and their conference record to 2-0.

The match began with GVSU sweeping the doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Neus Ramos and Vale Mozas achieved a 6-4 win at the top doubles position. Rachel Sam and Estefania Hernandez also won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles, while Ipek Sakiroglu and Kalomoira Ralli received a win by forfeit at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Neus Ramos delivered a strong performance with a straight-set victory of 6-0, 6-2 at the top singles position. Estefania Hernandez mirrored this result with her own straight-set win of 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Rachel Sam and Nadia Rodewald were awarded wins by forfeit at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

Looking ahead, the Lakers will continue their GLIAC campaign on the road next weekend. They are scheduled to compete against Ferris State on Friday, March 28th at 2:00 PM and Wayne State on Saturday, March 29th at 10:00 AM.
