The Grand Valley State women's tennis team secured a 6-1 victory against Lake Superior State on Friday afternoon. This win brings the Lakers' record to 11-4 overall and 5-1 in the GLIAC standings.
The Lakers clinched the doubles point by winning all doubles matches. Neus Ramos and Vale Mozas achieved a 7-6 victory in the top doubles match. Rachel Sam and Estefania Hernandez won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles, while Ipek Sakiroglu and Kalomoira Ralli dominated with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles matches, Vale Mozas won 6-2, 6-1 in straight sets at No. 2 singles. Anna Soteras posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles. Estefania Hernandez achieved a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Ipek Sakiroglu claimed a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles. Kalomoira Ralli secured a hard-fought 5-7, 6-3, 10-7 win at No. 6 singles. Neus Ramos was defeated in a close match, 4-6, 6-7, at the top singles position.
The Lakers will host Michigan Tech on Saturday, April 12th, closing out their home weekend with a senior day match. The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM at the GVSU Tennis Courts.
