The Grand Valley State men's tennis team secured a decisive 7-0 victory over Lake Superior State on Friday afternoon. The match, held at the GVSU Tennis Courts, saw the team improve to a 12-2 record for the season and 5-0 in conference play (GLIAC).

The doubles matches set the tone for the sweep, with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Stephen Claassen and Lawrence Ivanov achieved a 6-1 win in the No. 2 doubles match, while the pair of Chimo Minguez and Denys Zamaraiev clinched a 7-6 win in the No. 3 spot. The No. 1 doubles team, Victor Lopes and Lucas Gonzalez, faced a challenge and fell 2-6.

In singles play, Denys Zamaraiev led with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the top position. Victor Lopes followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles. Jorge Ruiz dominated with a 6-0, 6-2 result at No. 3 singles. Patricio Sepulveda added another win with scores of 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. Ignasi Garros secured a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles, and Chimo Minguez completed the sweep with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.

The Lakers aim to continue their successful run on Saturday, April 12, with a match against Michigan Tech at the GVSU Tennis Courts. The event is designated as senior day, and the first serve is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
