Grand Valley State softball team prepares for upcoming home doubleheaders

The Grand Valley State softball team is set to face Roosevelt and Parkside at home in GLIAC doubleheaders on April 17 and April 19, respectively. The Lakers, coming off five consecutive victories, including a sweep against Purdue Northwest, aim to continue their winning streak.

Elizabeth Wesoloski, recognized as the GLIAC Player of the Week, has shown impressive performance, contributing six home runs and 14 runs batted in over the past six games. Her season statistics include a batting average of .348, with 48 hits, 35 RBIs, and seven home runs. Meanwhile, senior Morgan Spicer has hit .304 this season and boasts 10 doubles, with recent consistent contributions in hits.

Freshman pitcher Karli Dorr leads the GVSU pitching staff with a 2.63 ERA and 100 strikeouts, while junior Nevaeh Ingram has marked a 3.01 ERA with 78 strikeouts and three consecutive wins. The Lakers' team ERA stands at 3.04, ranking them second in the GLIAC.

Roosevelt holds a 13-25 record and ranks 7-13 in the conference. Ella Dvoracek leads Roosevelt's batting efforts with a .366 average, while Kailey Hancock maintains a 3.65 ERA. GVSU previously swept Roosevelt in a season-opening doubleheader.

Parkside, with an even 19-19 season and 10-10 conference record, poses a challenge, having previously swept the Lakers. Led by Mia Johnson, who is hitting .379 with 17 home runs, Parkside's offense will be key.
