The GVSU women's lacrosse team is set to conclude their home schedule with a match against Davenport on Friday evening in what has been termed the Crosstown Showdown. The game is scheduled to commence at 7:00 PM.

The past weekend was fruitful for the Lakers as they emerged victorious in both of their matches. They secured an 11-4 win against Northern Michigan and followed that with a 10-5 triumph over Concordia-St. Paul, which brought their overall record to 11-3. Their conference play stands at an undefeated 6-0, thus clinching a share of the conference title. A win in the upcoming game or a loss for CSP will grant the Lakers the regular season title for the 12th time in its history. Statistically, the Lakers have several top 10 national rankings and are third in save percentage at .528. This has contributed to their eighth-ranked scoring defense, with an average of 7.86 goals conceded per game.

Earlier in the season, GVSU managed a 12-3 victory over Davenport. The team was led by key performances from goalkeeper Kaylyn Cater, who achieved her 200th career save during the match, and Zoe Ziegler, who scored four goals.

Davenport approaches the game following a weekend of mixed results, having lost to CSP on Friday, but defeating NMU on Sunday. Their record now stands at 7-6 overall and 2-4 in league play, which ties them for third in the standings. Theadora Krueger, a notable midfielder from Davenport, was recently named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. She accumulated nine turnovers and eight groundballs while also scoring two goals. Krueger leads her team with 29 groundballs and ranks second with 33 caused turnovers. Offensively, Blakley Malpass and Maddy Haynes have both surpassed 30 goals, while Krueger has more than 30 points. Davenport's goalkeepers, Zoe Cassell and Rachel Livak, have collectively achieved a .423 save percentage over the season.
