The GVSU women's lacrosse team has achieved a significant accomplishment by sweeping the GLIAC Players of the Week for the third time this season, seeing two of their players recognized for their performances.
Ashleigh Rothe, a senior midfielder for GVSU, was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, marking her third such recognition this season. Rothe's achievements in the latest matchup against the Panthers included tallying six points through four goals and two assists, along with contributing three draw controls, picking up two groundballs and causing two turnovers. This game also marked Rothe's 76th career appearance, making her the most capped player in the program's history. Her current season stats lead the team with 42 goals, 22 assists, 64 points, and 29 groundballs. In conference play, she ranks second in points per game and stands third in both goals and assists per game.
Meanwhile, Grand Valley State's Elora Ferrie has been honored as the GLIAC Defender of the Week for the second time this season. During the team's sole game this week, Ferrie’s contributions were crucial in a 17-6 victory over Davenport. Her performance included causing three turnovers and collecting two groundballs, which helped restrict the Panther offense to less than half their average scoring, while their three top scorers combined for only one point. Throughout the season, Ferrie has accumulated 14 groundballs and caused 12 turnovers.
