The Grand Valley State softball team ended their regular season with a doubleheader sweep against Wayne State on Saturday. The Lakers secured a win in the first game with a 3-0 score and triumphed in the second game 3-1. This result improves their overall season record to 26-24, concluding their conference play with a 17-11 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

In the first game, GVSU's offense opened in the second inning when Grace Usher singled to center field, bringing Eliana Eiland home from second base. The Lakers expanded their lead in the third inning with two more runs. Nevaeh Ingram hit an infield single, allowing Jasmine Mauk to score, and later Morgan Spicer hit a single to left center to drive in Ingram from third base.

Faith Edwards and Elizabeth Wesoloski led the Lakers with two hits each. Ingram managed a hit, an RBI, and scored a run while also pitching all seven innings, maintaining her third consecutive shutout and permitting only four hits.

The second game saw an early advantage for GVSU when Elizabeth Wesoloski hit a two-run home run to left center, marking her ninth home run of the season and 43rd RBI. The team extended their lead to 3-0 with a sacrifice fly by Jasmine Mauk that scored Allyson Theunick. Wayne State made a brief response in the fourth inning, but GVSU held their ground in the final innings.

Grace Usher secured two hits, while Wesoloski's home run contributed two RBIs. Mauk recorded a hit and RBI, while Eiland and Ingram each added a hit to the tally. Karli Dorr pitched all seven innings, allowing just one run off three hits with two strikeouts.

The Lakers are set to compete in the GLIAC Tournament commencing next Thursday in Rosemont, Illinois. As other teams finish their seasons, the Lakers' positioning in the GLIAC standings remains uncertain. Additional details about the tournament can be found on the team's official website.
