GVSU women's golf team heads to national championships for 19th time

The GVSU women's golf team is set to compete in the Division II National Championships, beginning tomorrow at the Boulder City Country Club. This marks their 19th appearance in the tournament.

The event will feature 18 full teams and eight additional individual players. The competition format includes three days of stroke play, with each day consisting of 18 holes. After these rounds, the top eight teams will progress to medal match play. The quarterfinals and semifinals are scheduled for Friday, followed by the championship match on Saturday.

Grand Valley State recently secured victory at the East Regional, winning by an 11-stroke margin. Team members Charlotte Goersch and Olivia Stoll achieved second and third place finishes respectively, while Paula Badino finished seventh, Megan Miron ninth, and Julia Sanchez eleventh. This win marked the program's eighth regional title.

Representing GVSU this week are Charlotte Goersch, Olivia Stoll, Paula Badino, Megan Miron, and Julia Sanchez. Lea Stotz is designated as a substitute player who can join at the start of any round if needed. The Lakers will begin their first round at 11:00 am Pacific Time (2:00 pm Eastern), competing alongside Midwestern State and Flagler.

Historically, GVSU has reached the National Championships 19 times with a record of 12 top-10 finishes and two runner-up positions.
