Grand Valley State ends season after NCAA tournament loss to Indianapolis

The Grand Valley State women's tennis team was defeated by Indianapolis with a score of 4-2 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Monday, May 12. The Lakers concluded their season with a record of 15 wins and 5 losses.

In doubles play, GVSU secured the point by winning at No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Estefania Hernandez and Rachel Sam achieved a decisive victory with a 6-0 score at No. 2 doubles, while Ipek Sakiroglu and Kalomoira Ralli earned a win with a score of 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.

During singles matches, Estefania Hernandez won her match at No. 4 singles in straight sets, scoring 6-1, 6-3. Neus Ramos faced defeat at the top singles position with scores of 4-6, 2-6. Anna Soteras experienced a challenging three-set match at No. 3 singles but ultimately lost with scores of 6-4, 3-6, and 3-6. Ipek Sakiroglu was defeated in her match at No. 5 singles with scores of 6-7, 2-6. Kalomoira Ralli also played a tough three-set match at No. 6 singles but fell short with scores of 0-6, followed by a comeback set win of 6-0 before losing the final set again at 0-6.
