GVSU women’s golf team starts strong in NCAA national championships

The GVSU women's golf team began their campaign at the NCAA National Championships on Tuesday morning, competing at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Nevada. At the conclusion of the first round, the Lakers are positioned 11th overall, with one golfer ranking among the top three.

Anderson and Cal State San Marcos share the lead, both teams posting an eight-under score. Flagler follows closely at seven under par. Dallas Baptist and Cal State East Bay are tied for fifth place with scores of three under par. The Lakers finished their round at three over par, just two strokes away from eighth place, which is required to advance to match play.

Olivia Stoll delivered a notable performance by recording four birdies during her round of 68 (-4), tying for third place individually. Paula Badino also had a strong showing with five birdies in her round of 70 (-2), ending up tied for 11th place. Julia Sanchez completed her round with a score of 76 (+4), placing her in a tie for 69th position. Charlotte Goersch scored a 77 (+5) and is tied for 77th after making two birdies. Megan Miron shot a 79 (+7) and is currently tied for 88th place with two birdies.

The Lakers will commence their second-round play tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM Pacific Time (1:00 PM Eastern Time). They remain paired with Midwestern State and Flagler.
