Grand Valley State University has announced the induction of seven new members into its Athletics Hall of Fame. The ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Raleigh J. Finkelstein Athletic Village. This will mark the 39th class to be inducted.
The new inductees include Jenna Thayer from Okemos, Michigan, who excelled in swimming between 2006 and 2009; Tyler Emmorey from Cedar Springs, Michigan, known for his achievements in track and field from 2008 to 2012; Liz Murphy from Washington, Michigan, also recognized for her track and field contributions between 2009 and 2013; Erin Mruz from Gurnee, Illinois, who played soccer from 2008 to 2011; Chelsea Johnston from Novi, Michigan, a women's tennis player from 2008 to 2011; Adam Sandusky from Three Rivers, Michigan, known for his performance in men's tennis between 2004 and 2007; and Michael Tennessee from Sterling Heights, Michigan, who played football from 2000 to 2004.
Director of Athletics Keri Becker commented on the new class: "We are inducting another incredible class that represents everything that is great about Grand Valley State and GVSU athletics." She added that these individuals not only have outstanding athletic credentials but also embody the values of competitiveness, hard work, growth, and development.
This year's inductees will join the ranks of the previous 195 members honored since the first class was inducted in 1986. Plaques commemorating all Hall of Fame members are displayed at the Grand Valley State Fieldhouse Championship lobby.
The event will coincide with the university's annual Charles H. Irwin Athletic Hall of Fame Reception and Induction Ceremony. The reception starts at 5:45 p.m., followed by the induction ceremony at 7:00 p.m.
