State Rep. Nancy DeBoer (R-Holland) has welcomed the Michigan Strategic Fund’s recent approval of incentives to support the expansion of Hudsonville Creamery and Ice Cream Company in Holland. The move is expected to bring new jobs and increased economic activity to the area.
The Michigan Strategic Fund has approved a Michigan Business Development Program grant that could reach $700,000, along with a 15-year State Essential Services Assessment Exemption valued at up to $599,275. These incentives will help finance an expansion project for Hudsonville Creamery in Holland, which is projected to involve more than $40 million in capital investment.
“This is a huge win for Holland and West Michigan,” said DeBoer. “Hudsonville Creamery has deep roots in our region, and their continued growth speaks volumes about the strength of our local workforce and the strong business climate we’re committed to maintaining. I’m proud to have worked alongside Senator Roger Victory and Congressman Bill Huizenga to support this project and help secure the needed resources to make it happen.”
The planned investment includes renovating and expanding Hudsonville’s current facility. Upgrades will be made to accommodate a new novelty bar production line, including improvements such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, as well as acquiring new machinery and equipment. At least 44 new jobs are expected to be created in Holland through this initiative. Starting wages for these positions will be $22 per hour plus benefits, which is above the regional median wage.
“This project reflects the kind of innovative development we love to see,” said DeBoer. “It strengthens our local economy and offers good-paying jobs right here in Holland.”
