Grand Valley State University announced it will host Detroit Christian Community College for an exhibition football game on Sunday, September 28 at 6 p.m. The event is set to take place during a rare two-week break in the Lakers’ regular season schedule, which has resulted in only 10 scheduled games this year.
The exhibition game will be held at Lubbers Stadium. Gates will open at 5 p.m., with tickets priced at $10 for general admission. Season ticket holders and GVSU students can attend for free. Parking will be available in Lots B1 and B2 starting at 4 p.m., and regular tailgating rules will apply. Concessions will be offered in the north stand, but alcohol will not be sold.
"Grand Valley State will open the 2025 season Saturday, August 30 at 1 p.m. versus Lincoln (Pa.) in Lubbers Stadium."
This scheduling adjustment comes as Grand Valley State faces difficulties arranging opponents, leading to back-to-back bye weeks on September 20 and September 27.
