The Grand Valley State men's golf team achieved its best result to date at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, finishing ninth in the tournament held in Grand Haven, Michigan. This marks their highest placement in four years of participating in the event.
Alabama secured its second consecutive victory at the tournament, finishing five under par after three rounds. Notre Dame followed as runner-up with a score of one over par. Cincinnati and Kansas tied for third place at 11 over, while California rounded out the top five with a score of +12.
For Grand Valley State, Manuel Cue led the team by tying for 11th place individually with a two-over-par performance, highlighted by five birdies and a final round score of 73 (+2). Teammates Bryce Wheeler, Maverick Conaway, and Charlie Cooley each finished tied for 28th at seven over par. Wheeler posted a round of 73 with four birdies; Conaway and Cooley both shot 75 (+4), with Conaway recording an eagle and a birdie and Cooley making one birdie. Ryan Gallagher ended his tournament tied for 42nd at 11 over after shooting a final-round 76 (+5) that included three birdies.
Looking ahead, Grand Valley State will host its only home event of the fall season next week—the Folds of Honor Challenge at The Meadows golf course. The three-day tournament is scheduled from September 15 to September 17.
