Grand Valley State men's golf wins Folds of Honor Challenge for fourth straight year

The Grand Valley State men's golf team secured a win at the Folds of Honor Challenge, marking their fourth consecutive victory in the tournament. The event took place on their home course in Allendale, Michigan. With this result, the Lakers earned a spot in the 2026 Folds of Honor Collegiate.

Grand Valley State finished the tournament at eight over par, maintaining a narrow two-shot lead over Aurora University, which moved up from fourth to second place after shooting five under par in the final round. Odessa and Wayne State shared third place at 18 over par, while Dallas Baptist completed the top five with a score of 23 over.

Andrew Gwilliams led for the Lakers with a final round of 68, recording four birdies to tie for first and force a playoff. The playoff extended to four holes before Gwilliams was defeated. Bryce Wheeler tied for fourth place after finishing even par in his last round, which included one birdie. Charlie Cooley tied for ninth with a third-round score of 73 and three birdies, finishing two over par overall. Murphy Kehoe ended tied for sixth at one over after carding three birdies in his final round of 71.

Three Lakers—Manuel Cue Vargas, Maverick Conaway, and Ryan Gallagher—finished in a tie for tenth at three over par. Conaway shot a 71 with three birdies; Cue recorded a 73 with two birdies; Gallagher closed with four birdies during his round of 68.

Finley Dober posted the lowest round of the day with a score of 66 that included five birdies and an eagle, finishing tied for eighteenth at six over. Emil Olofsson finished tied for thirty-ninth at thirteen over after carding a final round of 76.

The team is scheduled to compete next Monday and Tuesday at the UIndy Fall Invitational.
