Speaker Matt Hall addresses road funding, arts spending, and honors Charlie Kirk in recent posts

Speaker Matt Hall, a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, recently used his social media platform to comment on state policy issues and legislative actions. His posts addressed topics including road funding, the state budget, arts funding, and a resolution honoring Charlie Kirk.

On September 15, 2025, Hall criticized Senate Democrats’ approach to infrastructure funding. He wrote: "The Senate Democrats’ roads plan? Still non-existent. Our roads plan? Fully funded with unused slush money and gas pump taxes. NO TAX HIKES."

Three days later, on September 18, 2025, Hall discussed Michigan’s $78 billion state budget and arts funding priorities. In his post he stated: "Exactly. This is why we were able to keep our state budget at only $78B. We need to stop using tax dollars to fund nonsense programs like barbershop quartets. The arts are important, but private donors should be the ones funding them, not everyday, hard-working Michiganders."

Later that same day, Hall referenced a rare formal resolution in the House of Representatives honoring Charlie Kirk. He explained: "We rarely adopt formal resolutions like this, but I felt it was important to honor the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk on the House floor. That's why I introduced House Resolution 174 on Wednesday. Charlie ignited a huge movement by inspiring and challenging an entire"

These comments reflect ongoing debates within Michigan’s legislature over infrastructure spending priorities and public support for cultural initiatives such as the arts. The reference to a $78 billion budget aligns with recent figures for Michigan’s annual appropriations process.

Charlie Kirk is known nationally as a conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA; legislative resolutions honoring individuals are occasionally adopted by state legislatures to recognize significant contributions or milestones.
