Grand Valley State University senior Bryce Wheeler has been named the GLIAC Golfer of the Week for the first time in his career, according to an announcement from the league office.
Wheeler played a key role in leading the Lakers to victory at the UIndy Invitational. During the tournament, he set or matched two program records. He secured his second individual win by shooting rounds of 68, 64, and 69 for a total score of 201 (-15), finishing four strokes ahead of his closest competitor. His 36-hole score of 132 tied an existing program record, while his overall 54-hole score of 201 established a new record by one stroke. Across three rounds, Wheeler recorded 18 birdies and one eagle.
The Lakers also achieved new team records at the event. They finished with a total score of -51 and set program bests for team scores over 18 holes (269), 36 holes (539), and 54 holes (813). This victory marked Grand Valley State's second win in just three tournaments during the fall season.
