Grand Valley State University's men's wrestling team has released its 2025-26 schedule under first-year head coach R.J. Boudro. The Lakers, now in their third year since returning as a varsity sport after a 32-year break, will face several of the top NCAA Division II programs.
The season begins with the Michigan State Open on November 8 in East Lansing, followed by the Findlay Open on November 15. The team will then host the Laker Duals on November 21, where they will compete against Findlay, St. Cloud State—a top five team—and Glenville State, ranked in the top ten.
In December, the Lakers travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin for the Jim Koch Open on December 6. The Midwest Classic, one of the leading in-season team tournaments, is set for December 13 and 14 at the University of Indianapolis. Grand Valley State closes out 2025 by hosting Olivet University on December 18.
The new year starts with participation in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Duals on January 9 and 10, featuring the top 20 teams in the country. The team will then travel to Central Oklahoma for a dual on January 16. Select wrestlers will compete at the Alma Open on January 18. Senior Night is scheduled for January 30 at home against Muskegon Community College.
February includes the Greyhound Duals at the University of Indianapolis on February 7 and 8. The regular season ends with a match at Davenport on February 15. The postseason begins with the NCAA Super Region 3 tournament at Findlay on February 28. The top three finishers from this event will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on March 13 and 14.
"We have a challenging schedule for our squad, but we have a group of experienced wrestlers are ready to compete," said Boudro. "I love how this team competes in the wrestling room and I know they want to be challenged on the mat to get ready for the NCAA Championships," added Boudro.
