The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) Lakers swim and dive teams are set to host the season-opening GVSU Invite at the Holland Aquatic Center on October 10 and 11. The event will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and continue at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.

Participating teams include Hope College, McKendree University, and Saginaw Valley State University. This meet follows the Lakers' Blue and Black Intrasquad Meet held on October 4.

Last season, the women's team finished eighth out of 38 teams at the NCAA Division II Championships and secured their third consecutive GLIAC championship title. The men's team ended their previous season with a fourth-place finish in the NCAA tournament among 36 teams and claimed their eleventh straight GLIAC championship.

Head Coach Boyce commented, "The GVSU Invite will be a great way to kick off the season. We will compete in all events except the 800 free relay and 1650 free." He added, "We look to build on our conference championship and our 4th and 8th place national finishes from a year ago."

Diving Coach Burciaga said, "I am excited for this meet. We usually do not have an 11 dive format this early, but I am excited to see how it goes." He continued, "The divers have been working hard and we still have a lot of work to do, but this is a good test to see where we are today and what we can improve on."

There will be no live stream available for the event. Fans can follow updates through Instagram (@gvsuswimdive), Twitter (@gvsuswim), or by downloading Meet Mobile for additional information.
