Four athletes from Grand Valley State University have been recognized as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Swimmers and Divers of the Week. The announcement, made by the GLIAC, marks the first time this season that Grand Valley State has swept all four weekly honors.
Lucy Hedley was named Women's Swimmer of the Week. She participated in the 200-freestyle relay that set a school record with a time of 1:32.91. Hedley also competed in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle events, recording times of 23.06, 50.32, and 1:50.42 respectively. She was also part of the first-place 200-medley relay (1:43.39), 400 medley relay (3:47.76), and 400 freestyle relay (3:25.44).
Evan Scotto DiVetta received Men's Swimmer of the Week honors after competing in seven events at the GVSU Invite. He helped secure first-place finishes in the 200-medley relay (1:27.51), 400 medley relay (3:15.02), 200 freestyle relay (1:19.82), and 400 freestyle relay (2:56.66). Scotto DiVetta also won individual events in the 50 freestyle (19.75), 100 breaststroke (56.73), and 100 freestyle (43.39).
Olivia Kutsche was recognized as Women's Diver of the Week. She earned first place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with scores of 240.23 and 272.00. This is her first Diver of the Week honor this season.
Carter Wood was named Men's Diver of the Week. He achieved first place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 224.65 and also led the 3-meter dive with a score of 291.38. This is also his first Diver of the Week award this season.
The Lakers are scheduled to compete again at the Venema Aquatic Center on Saturday, October 18, facing Calvin University and Saginaw Valley State. Updates will be available on the team's social media channels.
