Allegan Area Educational Service Agency issued the following announcement on July 16
In our last communication we shared opening dates for local school districts in the county. Our staffs have been working hard developing plans for returning to school for face to face instruction, hybrid models, and 100% virtual instruction. Regardless of what plan is ultimately implemented, please be assured that your family and your students will remain an important part of your local school district.
We know that regardless of the plan, some families will not be comfortable with sending their students back into a school building. Therefore, we would like to announce the Virtual Academy of Allegan County (VAAC). This 100% on-line school is being designed by educators at Allegan Area ESA and the local school districts. Similar to the Allegan County Area Technical and Education Center, students enrolled in VAAC will still be part of their local school district and able to take part in activities offered by the district.
Very soon you will receive an interest survey about attending VAAC. We are trying to get an idea of how many families are strongly considering enrolling their student(s) in the Virtual Academy of Allegan County for fall 2020. More information on the curriculum, staff, and teachers will be shared in the near future.
We know this is a difficult time as families are trying to prepare for what a return to school will look like. We appreciate your patience and support.
