Michigan's current epidemic order has been extended an additional 12 days by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
“Hope is on the horizon, but we need an additional 12 days to determine the full impact of the Thanksgiving holiday on our efforts to mitigate the spread of the virus,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said, according to Michigan Capitol Confidential.
The order, which went into effect Nov. 18, will now extend through Sunday, Dec. 20, or until it is redacted or extended. This order closes bars and restaurants to in-person dining and limits the amount of people at private social gatherings. It also requires residents attending a gathering -- if it is not in violation of the order -- to wear face masks the entire time, according to information provided by Michigan.gov.
Currently, Michigan has a total of over 442,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and almost 11,000 deaths, according to statistics from Michigan.gov. Questions or concerns about the epidemic order can be addressed to COVID19@michigan.gov.
