The Grand Valley State baseball program has announced the dates for its 2024 prospect camps. The first camp will take place on Saturday, August 10, followed by the second camp on Saturday, September 14, and the third and final camp on Saturday, October 19.
Registration for each camp will begin at 8:30 AM at the baseball field, with activities starting at 9:00 AM. Pitcher-only participants will have a later registration time that is yet to be determined. Campers will engage in a pro-style workout in the morning and participate in games during the afternoon. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to tour some of Grand Valley State University's athletic facilities. The camps are scheduled to conclude around 4:00 PM.
Participants are required to bring tennis or turf shoes (no metal cleats), a baseball glove, hat, pants, bat, batting helmet, lunch, personal water bottle, and catching gear or any other desired equipment. Camp shirts will be provided.
Due to ongoing renovations at the Laker Baseball Field, the location for the August 10 camp is currently undetermined. If renovations are completed by that date, the camp will be held at GVSU's Allendale Campus baseball field. If not, it will take place at the intramural fields on Grand Valley's Allendale Campus. The Kelly Family Sports Center may also be used if inclement weather arises.
The GVSU baseball program is recognized as one of the premier programs in NCAA Division II. Recently, they won the 2024 GLIAC Conference Tournament Championship and made an appearance in the NCAA Division II regional tournament. Historically successful seasons include being Co-Conference Champions in 2016 and finishing third in the Division II World Series in 2013 alongside winning the GLIAC championship that year. Other notable achievements include regular season and tournament wins in GLIAC during 2012 and advancing to several NCAA regional semifinals over recent years.
Since 2003, GVSU has secured ten GLIAC conference championships and advanced to nine regional championship games—winning six—and progressing to multiple NCAA Division II World Series events with national finishes ranging from second place in 2004 to seventh place most recently in 2011.
