33 GVSU athletes earn USTFCCCA academic honors

The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) men's and women's cross country and track and field teams have been recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as All-Academic Teams. Additionally, 14 men and 19 women from GVSU earned All-Academic Athlete status.

The women's team achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.53, while the men's team posted a GPA of 3.15. Caleb Futter was named the Indoor Men's Track Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Futter, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.4, won the mile at the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships. This marks the first time in program history that an athlete from Grand Valley State has received this national honor for the indoor season.

Men's honorees include Elias Bergman (Biomedical Sciences, Psychology), Shane Byrne (Biomedical Sciences), Koby Fraaza (Biomedical Sciences, Pre-professional Preparation), Caleb Futter (Criminal Justice), Luke Jelderks (Natural Resources Management), Myles Kerner (Communications), Bobby Maxwell (Finance), Zach Pray (Education, Health & Physical Education Teaching), Max Rauch (Mechanical Engineering), Myles Rhodes (Health & Physical Education Teaching), Scott Spaanstra (Higher Education, Sport Coaching), Nathan Spitzley (Exercise Science), Nicholas Walper (Finance/Marketing) and Cal Yackin (Biology).

Women's honorees include Allie Arnsman (Educational Studies, Pedagogical Content Knowledge PreK-6th Grade), Brooke Barkocy (Exercise Science), Taryn Chapko (Exercise Science), Alaina Diaz (Educational Studies, Pedagogical Content Knowledge PreK-3rd Grade), Madelyn Frens (Communication Sciences & Disorders), Natalie Graber (Physical Therapy), Jordyn Hopgood (Exercise Science), Landyn Howell(Physical Therapy ), Lauren Kiley(Environmental and Sustainability Studies ), Sarah May( Exercise Science , Psychology ), Maria Mitchell(Wildlife Biology ), Klaudia O'Malley(Occupational Therapy ), Alaina Omonode(Physical Therapy ), Lily Renfrew( Exercise Science ), Kayce Rypma(Cybersecurity ), Margaret Stevenson(Allied Health Sciences , Exercise Science ) , Ana Tucker(Physical Therapy ) , Abby VanderKooi(Nursing ) , Paige Westra(Education , Health & Physical Education Teaching ).
