The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's golf team has secured a spot in the Nationals after achieving third place at the East Regional Championships. Olivia Stoll, a member of the team, earned individual medalist honors by advancing two positions on the final day of competition.
In the tournament results, Findlay and UIndy were tied for first place after three rounds. A tiebreaker was necessary to determine the winner, with Findlay ultimately claiming the team title. GVSU improved their standing by one position to finish third overall. Ashland secured fourth place, while Davenport claimed fifth place to earn their ticket to Nationals.
Olivia Stoll's performance marked her as the third Laker to receive Regional Medalist honors. She completed her final round with a score of 75 (+3), which included three birdies, allowing her to finish seven over par and win by one stroke. Her teammates Megan Miron and Julia Sanchez both tied for 16th place with scores of +16. Miron recorded two birdies during her round of 75, while Sanchez achieved three birdies in her round of 76 (+4). Paula Badino ended in a tie for 19th at +17 after carding four birdies in her round of 74 (+2). Rachael Krieger finished tied for 48th with a score of +27 following an 80 in her final round.
The Lakers will now advance to compete at Nationals, scheduled to take place in Orlando, Florida from May 20th through May 24th.
