Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is set to host Purdue Northwest in a four-game series as part of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) baseball schedule. The series will commence on Friday afternoon in Allendale, with the first pitch rescheduled to 3:00 p.m. due to anticipated rain. Saturday's doubleheader is slated for a 1 p.m. start, while the series finale on Sunday will begin at noon. Notably, GVSU wrestling National Champion Josh Kenny will have the honor of throwing out the first pitch before Sunday's game.

The Lakers' pitching staff will be bolstered by Mike Morawski, who has been recognized as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Pitcher of the Week and GLIAC Pitcher of the Week for two consecutive weeks. Morawski delivered an impressive performance with a complete-game shutout and a career-high 13 strikeouts during GVSU's 3-0 victory over Parkside on April 6. He allowed only one hit, an infield single, and limited base runners to three. His 13 strikeouts are second all-time for a single game at GVSU, and his one-hitter ranks as the 15th in Laker history. In his last two starts, Morawski has achieved a record of 2-0, conceding just one run on six hits with 18 strikeouts over 16.1 innings pitched. Nick Rutkowski also secured a win against Parkside last week and currently leads the pitching staff with four victories.

On offense, senior center fielder Kyle Nott recently became the first Laker in over 35 years to hit for the cycle during an outing at Northwood. Nott went 4-for-6 with two runs scored and five RBIs. Additionally, junior left fielder Ryan Dykstra recorded his first five-hit game at Northwood, while junior designated hitter Conner McCormack hit two two-run home runs.

Senior right fielder Nathan Logan approaches this weekend's series tied for the career lead in all-time doubles after hitting his 51st double last weekend.
