Grand Valley State University secured a doubleheader victory against Wayne State in the GLIAC series on Saturday. The Lakers triumphed with scores of 5-1 and 14-3, marking a notable performance by senior pitcher Sam Leck.

In the first game, Leck achieved a significant milestone by pitching the ninth no-hitter in GVSU Baseball history, the first since 2011. He completed seven innings, allowing one earned run while striking out five and walking three on 89 pitches. "Leck (3-1) was the story of the game," noted observers as he executed 11 ground outs, four fly outs, and induced one double play.

The Lakers' offense came alive in the fourth inning with four runs from six hits. Jonas Gulbrandsen and Brendan Guciardo initiated with singles, followed by Connor McCormack's RBI single that brought Gulbrandsen home. Logan Anderson contributed with a two-RBI double to left center. Jake Rydquist and Ayden VanEnkevort added singles before Ryan Dykstra hit a sacrifice fly to score Rydquist. Dykstra later hit a home run for the fifth run.

In game two, GVSU maintained momentum by scoring early and frequently, establishing a commanding lead of 10-0 by the fourth inning. Dykstra set an aggressive tone with a solo home run in the first inning. Contributions continued with Rydquist's RBI single in the second inning and further scoring driven by Guciardo's RBI single and Anderson's two-run RBI double.

Mike Morawski earned his win record at 4-3 after allowing two runs on five hits across 7.1 innings while striking out nine batters. Casey Kedzierski closed out the final innings for GVSU.

Throughout both games, Rydquist stood out with three hits including a triple, four RBIs, and one run scored. Both Guciardo and Anderson recorded identical stats of three hits each along with two RBIs and three runs scored apiece.

Overall, Grand Valley State accumulated 19 runs from 30 hits during these matchups against Wayne State. Their pitchers limited Wayne State to just two runs over five hits throughout both games combined.
