Grand Valley State loses doubleheader against Saginaw Valley State

Grand Valley State University's baseball team faced a setback on Friday, losing both games of a doubleheader against Saginaw Valley State University in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The matches ended with scores of 11-2 and 3-2.

In the first game, which lasted seven innings, Grand Valley State fell 11-2. Brendan Guciardo contributed to the scoreboard with a two-run home run in the seventh inning. Nate Logan made a significant mark by doubling earlier in the game, setting a new career record for doubles at GVSU with 52. This achievement surpassed the previous record held by Casey Robrahn.

Guciardo's performance included one hit from three at-bats, along with two RBIs. Jonas Gulbrandsen also had a notable game, hitting two out of three. Kyle Nott, Ryan Dykstra, and Connor Schuman each added singles for the Lakers. Nick Rutkowski took the loss as pitcher, bringing his season record to 5-4.

The second game concluded with a closer score of 3-2 against Grand Valley State. Nate Logan hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to tie the game at one apiece. Connor McCormack was hit by a pitch before Nick Krstich doubled to left field. Jake Rydquist then drove McCormack home with a ground out.

Logan ended this match with two hits from four attempts and one home run. Krstich's contribution included a double while Rydquist recorded a single and an RBI. Anderson also added to the team's efforts with a single.

The teams are set to meet again on Saturday for another match starting at 1 p.m.
