Grand Valley State University has inducted seven new members into its Athletics Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Charles H. Irwin Dinner. This marks the 37th class to be honored in this way.

"We are inducting an incredible class that represents everything that is great about Grand Valley State and GVSU athletics," stated Keri Becker, Director of Athletics. "Not only do they come into the Hall of Fame with outstanding athletic and administrative credentials, they also come in as outstanding individuals and we are excited to have them join an incredible group of Laker Hall of Famers."

The inductees include Josh Bourke from Windsor, Ontario, who played football from 2001 to 2005. Bourke was recognized for his contributions as an offensive lineman, participating in four National Championship games and winning three titles during his tenure.

Brandon Carr from Flint, Michigan, was another football player inducted for his performance as a cornerback between 2004 and 2007. He was noted for setting a program record with 50 pass breakups and later enjoyed a successful career in the NFL.

Irie Dennis from New Albany, Ohio, contributed significantly to the soccer team between 2006 and 2009. Her career highlights include helping secure a National Championship in her senior year.

Justin Ringler from Reed City, Michigan, made his mark on men's basketball between 2007 and 2011 by ranking highly across multiple statistical categories.

Tim Selgo from Pettisville, Ohio served as an administrator from 1996 to 2016. Under his leadership, GVSU won numerous national championships and other accolades.

Briauna Taylor from Livonia, Michigan excelled in both women's basketball and softball between 2009 and 2014. She achieved high rankings across various statistical categories in both sports.

Candice Wheat from Pontiac, Michigan was recognized for her accomplishments in track & field between 2007 and 2010. Wheat earned nine NCAA DII All-American honors throughout her collegiate career.

This year's inductees will join the existing members who have been part of the Hall of Fame since its inception in 1986. The plaques honoring all inductees are displayed at the Grand Valley State Fieldhouse Championship lobby.

Charles "Chuck" Irwin played a foundational role at Grand Valley State College as its first athletic director among other roles until his retirement in 1974 when he became Professor Emeritus. His philosophy emphasized athletics as a learning experience rather than solely focusing on winning.
