Grand Valley State earns recognition with 48 All-Region track & field honors

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has announced the All-Region honorees for the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field season. The announcement was made on Tuesday, March 5th.

The All-Region distinction is awarded to the top five individuals in each event from each region, as well as to each member of the region's top three relay teams.

Grand Valley State University's track and field program received a total of 48 All-Region honors this indoor season, with an equal split between men and women—24 honors for each group.

For the Laker men's team, six athletes earned more than one All-Region honor. Caleb Futter led with three honors in the mile, 3000m, and as part of the men's Distance Medley Relay (DMR). Zach Pray, Patrick Lyell, Scott Spaanstra, Koby Fraaza, and Fallou Gaye were also recognized multiple times. Pray and Gaye were honored in the men's 400m and 4x400m relay; Lyell in the mile and DMR; Spaanstra in the 800m and DMR; Fraaza in the 3,000m and 5,000m events.

Additionally, all three male high jumpers—Eli Kosiba, Jaivon Harrison, and Jonathan Rankins-James—earned All-Region honors for their performances during the indoor season.

On the women's side, Grand Valley had six athletes who received more than one All-Region honor. Natalie Graber led with four overall honors in the mile, 3000m, 5000m events and as part of the women's DMR team. Taryn Chapko secured three honors in the 800m, mile, and DMR events. Klaudia O'Malley, Lauren Kiley, Maria Mitchell, and Kate Zang were recognized twice each: O'Malley in the mile and 3000m; Kiley in the 3000m and 5000m; Mitchell in both mile events; Zang as part of both DMR team efforts.
