Grand Valley State University's track and field team is set to compete in a series of events across California, starting Wednesday, April 10. The Lakers will participate in four meets over four days: the Cal St. L.A. Twilight Open from April 10-11, the Pacific Coast Invite on April 11, the Bryan Clay Invite from April 11-13, and the Beach Invitational from April 12-13.

The men's team recently achieved a No.1 national ranking by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. They boast two national leaders: Jaivon Harrison in high jump and Myles Kerner in shot put, along with six Top-5 marks and eleven Top-10 marks nationally.

The women's team holds a No.3 national ranking with Erika Beistle leading in discus, eight Top-5 marks, and twelve Top-10 marks nationally.

The Lakers' competition begins at the Cal St. L.A. Twilight Open in Los Angeles, CA. Bobby Maxwell will compete in men's javelin at 12:30 p.m. (ET), currently ranked 20th in Division II with a distance of 62.06m.

In men's hammer throw at 2:30 p.m., Shane Byrne and Matt Thomas will represent Grand Valley State, ranked 13th and 14th respectively on the Division II Top 25 list.

Shelby Ulven and Alaina Omonode will compete in women's hammer throw; Ulven ranks second with a throw of 58.71m while Omonode ranks fourth with a distance of 56.90m.

On day two of the Cal St. L.A. Twilight Open (April 11), Luke Jelderks and Caleb Taylor will participate in men's long jump while Alaina Diaz competes for women’s long jump at 4:00 p.m., followed by Sydney Cangilla and Joslyn Bentz in women's high jump at 8:30 p.m.
