Lakers track team competes on day two across multiple states

The Grand Valley State track and field team has concluded the second day of their weekend meets in Texas and North Carolina. The athletes are participating in three different events: the Texas Relays, Bobcat Invitational, and Raleigh Relays.

At the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, both the throws and sprints crews competed. In men's discus, Nathan Spitzley and James Mackey JR. secured 10th and 11th places with distances of 49.61m and 48.49m, respectively. Mackenzie Bohrer led the women's shot put team with a sixth-place finish at 14.35m, followed by Reette Thorns and Paige Westra in eighth and ninth positions. On the track, the men's 4x100m relay team set a new personal best time of 41.03 seconds.

At the Bobcat Invitational, Chrisly Kelly-Cannon achieved a fifth-place finish in men's long jump with a distance of 7.89m, setting a new Grand Valley State All-Conditions record for Division II. Matt Thomas won first place in men's hammer throw with a personal best of 61.00m.

In North Carolina at the Raleigh Relays, Natalie Graber set a new personal best in women's 5000m with a time of 16:02.45, finishing 17th out of 195 athletes.

The final day of competitions is scheduled for Saturday, March 30th across multiple locations including San Marcos, Austin, Cincinnati, and Raleigh.

Grand Valley State will continue to participate in various events such as pole vaulting at Oliver Nikoloff Invitational in Cincinnati starting at 11:00 a.m., while other teams compete in remaining events at their respective locations.
