The Lakers concluded their regular season in Louisville, Kentucky, at the Clark Wood Invitational before preparing for the 2024 Outdoor GLIAC Championships hosted by Grand Valley on May 1st.
Bobby Maxwell tied the meet record in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 61.75 meters. In women's discus, Erika Beistle and Margaret Stevenson finished seventh and eighth with distances of 50.50 meters and 49.96 meters, respectively. Nathan Spitzley secured sixth place in men's discus with a throw of 53.03 meters.
In the women's high jump open, Joslyn Bentz achieved second place with a height of 1.57 meters, followed by Abby DeOuden in third and Ashley Atikins in fifth. Ian Trall set a personal best in men's high jump with a clearance of 1.85 meters.
On the track, Joshua Hurt finished fourth in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.24 seconds, while Ethan Smith came eighth at 14.46 seconds. Myles Rhodes secured third place in the men's 400m with a season-best time of 47.23 seconds, ranking him 18th in Division II, while Zach Pray took fourth place.
The men's 4x100m relay team featuring Antonio Passarelli, Max Darling, Andrew Pizzico, and Myles Rhodes placed second with a time of 40.24 seconds and now ranks tenth in Division II. The women's 4x400m relay team consisting of Catherine Guckenberger, Alaina Diaz, Ashtyn Gluck, and Kate Zang earned third place with a time of 3:46.02.
The Grand Valley State Lakers are set to host the upcoming GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships starting May 1st.
