The Grand Valley State track and field team wrapped up their two-day meet at the Polar Bear Classic in Marion, Indiana, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. The event spanned from Friday, March 22nd to Saturday, March 23rd, with most of the Lakers participating on the second day.
In track events, the men's and women's sprints teams achieved a total of 11 Top 10 finishes. Antonio Passarelli led the men's 100m dash with a personal-best time of 10.76 seconds, securing first place. Andrew Pizzico finished fourth with a time of 10.86 seconds, while Henry Kennedy took seventh place at 10.96 seconds. Dominik Balenda earned third place in the men's 200m dash with a time of 21.83 seconds.
Lance Riddle placed ninth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.27 seconds and came in sixteenth in the 400m hurdles at 1:02.84 minutes.
The men's freshman relay team comprising Henry Kennedy, Dominik Balenda, Andrew Pizzico, and Chrisly Kelly-Cannon won first place in the 4x100m relay with a time of 42.34 seconds.
On the women's side, freshman Taylor Kyle achieved her first win as a Laker in the women's 100m dash with a time of 12.16 seconds. In the women's 200m race, Destini Dorkins finished eighth at 26.59 seconds and also secured second place in the women's 100m hurdles with a personal-best time of 14.76 seconds.
Kennedy Gardner took fifth place in the same hurdle event with a time of 16.13 seconds while Leeyah Samuels claimed seventh place in the women's 400m hurdles clocking at 1:11.38 minutes.
In field events for women, Taylor DeHommel led her team to secure all Top Ten spots in pole vaulting by clearing a height of 4.05 meters for second place; Miranda Firari followed closely behind achieving fifth position reaching heights up till3 .65 meters along others like Lily Renfrew (sixth), Rileigh Lacy (ninth) & Kendyl Hahlen(tenth).
Grand Valley’s women’s high jump saw Joslyn Bentz take fourth after clearing bars set atop heights measuring about approximately around155 cm alongside Sydney Cangilla who placed sixth respectively followed later downwards towards tenth by Abigail DenOuden standing tall over those measured only slightly lower than150cm
Caleb Taylor emerged victorious among men competing within long jumps covering distances extending nearly seven-point-one-zero meters leaving behind Ian Trall coming tenth measuring six-point-zero-nine-meters further ahead beyond Mason Floria positioned twelfth managing five-point-nine-seven-meters
The men’s pole vault team featured seven Lakers finishing within top ten ranks including Wyatt Alwine James Nutt Max Rauch Dolan Gonzales each clearing four-point-eight-zero-meter marks earning positions one through four Jacob Krutsch landed sixth jumping four point fifty-five David Conrad eighth reaching four point twenty-five Ryan Eck rounding out list tenth spotting himself atop just above last mark totaling precisely four-point-one-zero
