The Grand Valley State University track and field team wrapped up a busy weekend by competing in four different meets on Saturday, March 30. The Lakers participated in the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational in Texas, the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina, and the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational in Ohio.
During their final day of competition, the Lakers achieved 10 personal-best performances and set a new school record in the men's high jump.
At the Texas Relays, Jaivon Harrison excelled by clearing a height of 2.26 meters to secure second place overall. His performance set a new personal best and established him as the latest Grand Valley State record holder for men's outdoor high jump. Eli Kosiba and Jonathan Rankins-James both cleared 2.15 meters to tie for fourth place.
In shot put events at the same meet, Margaret Stevenson recorded a personal best with a throw of 51.87 meters to earn second place in women's shot put. Myles Kerner finished first in men's shot put with a throw of 19.67 meters, while Matt Thomas placed seventh with an 18.42-meter throw.
At the Raleigh Relays, Taryn Chapko led Grand Valley's women's team by finishing 42nd with a time of 2:09.61 in the 800m event, followed closely by Klaudia O'Malley who achieved her personal best at 2:09.99 for 44th place. On the men's side, Patrick Lyell completed his run at 1:53.90 with Quinton Bauer close behind at his personal best time of 1:53.94.
Meanwhile, at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio, freshman Dolan Gonzales reached a personal-best height of 5.05 meters to take second place among men pole vaulters while Wyatt Alwine secured third also clearing 5.05 meters.
Finally, at the Bobcat Invitational, Shane Byrne finished tenth in men's hammer throw achieving his personal-best distance of 60.42 meters.
On track events there during women's shot put Mackenzie Bohrer came seventh throwing14 .53meters followed closely by Reette Thorns placing tenth throwing14 .06meters Paige Westa fourteenth position having thrown13 .25meters respectively .
Grand Valley concluded its busy schedule across multiple states earning commendable results throughout various disciplines ranging from jumps throws relays sprints showcasing talents future potential athletes well performing respective categories they competed against top collegiate teams nationwide over course three-day period .
