Grand Valley State women's tennis team falls to Wayne State

The Grand Valley State women's tennis team faced a challenging match against Wayne State, resulting in a 7-0 defeat on Friday. This loss brings the Lakers' season record to 8-8.

Wayne State secured the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions. Despite Taylor Barrett and Neus Ramos achieving a 7-6 win at the top doubles position, Vasileia Griva and Rachel Sam lost 3-6 at No. 2 doubles, while Anna Soteras and Vale Mozas were defeated 4-6 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles matches, Vasileia Griva was narrowly defeated in a three-set match with scores of 6-4, 4-6, and 2-6 at the top singles position. Taylor Barrett lost her match with scores of 2-6, 3-6 at No. 2 singles. Anna Soteras also fell in a close three-set match with scores of 3-6, 6-2, and 4-6 at No. 3 singles. Rachel Sam was defeated with scores of 3-6, 4-6 at No. 4 singles. Neus Romas lost her match with scores of 5-7, 2-6 at No.5 singles, while Vale Mozas was narrowly beaten in another three-set match ending with scores of 2-6, 6-1, and an extended third set of 9-11 at No.6 singles.

The Lakers are scheduled to play their next game against Saginaw Valley State this Sunday in Allendale.
